OHC PHOTO.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"c5\"><span class=\"c2\">The Ontario Health Coalition\u2019s (OHC) fight to stop privatization of public health care is taking to the streets of Oakville.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">The group will be at the Town Square on Lakeshore Rd. and George St. in downtown Oakville this Friday (May 6), from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. handing out information residents can use to \u201cask informed questions\u201d of their local provincial election candidates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">Lawn, window and car signs will be available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">The OHC says it is looking to stop health care privatization, including cuts to long-term care, hospitals, home care and more by Premier Doug Ford and his provincial government.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"c33 lst-kix_list_8-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c42 c50 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c2\">We will not let the Ford Government expand\u00a0private hospitals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c5 c42 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c19\">We will not accept the privatization<\/span><span class=\"c30\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c2\">of 18,000 LTC beds\u00a0for the next 30-yrs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c5 c42 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c19\">We will not let them privatize<\/span><span class=\"c30\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"c2\">the last remaining public parts of\u00a0home care.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c5 c42 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c2\">We will stop the privatization\u00a0of vaccines and COVID-testing, and more.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c8 c42 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c2\">We will not allow the Ford Government to implement permanent cuts to public services post-election.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">The OHC represents more than 400 member organizations and a network of local health coalitions and individual members in the province.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">Its members include seniors\u2019 groups, patients\u2019 organizations, unions, nurses, health professionals\u2019 organizations; physicians and physician organizations and others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">The OHC says its primary goal is to protect and improve the public health care system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c8\"><span class=\"c2\">\u201cWe are led by our shared commitment to core values of equality, democracy, social inclusion and social justice; and by the five principles of the Act: universality; comprehensiveness; portability; accessibility and public administration,\u201d it stated on its website. \u201cWe are a non-profit, non-partisan public interest activist coalition and network.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c7 c13\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.insauga.com\/rally-to-stop-privatization-of-healthcare-set-for-downtown-oakville\"><span class=\"c2\">Link to the original article<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(May 2, 2022) By: Gene Pereira, inSauga.com The Ontario Health Coalition is holding a rally to stop privatization of the healthcare system at the town square in downtown Oakville this Friday.
