Featuring keynote speaker: Author, journalist, social activist Linda McQuaig<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A renowned journalist and social critic, Linda McQuaig is the author of a dozen books, including a number of national bestsellers. In her writing she challenges the dominant free-market economic ideology of recent decades. Her previous book, The Sport and Prey of Capitalists, shines a spotlight on the economic dogma of our times \u2013 privatization and makes the case that now more than ever, as we grapple with climate change and income inequality, we need to expand, not shrink, our public sphere. Her newest book, to be released soon, follows up on The Trouble With Billionaires, her 2010 book about the concentration of wealth and its impact. Always dynamic, always challenging and interesting, we are happy to have Linda with us at the Assembly.<\/p>\n

What’s on the agenda?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Come and hear where the fightback is seeing some success, what the Ford and Carney governments have planned, and how we compare with other provinces.\u00a0 We will bring briefings on key health care issues, funding and the enforcement of the Canada Health Act. We will discuss what the impact of our campaigns to date has been and discuss\/debate an action plan going forward.<\/div>\n

Hotel Rooms:<\/strong> We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at a reduced rate at the Chelsea Hotel, 33 Gerrard St. W. The rate is at $179 + tax\/night.<\/p>\n

Local Coalitions: <\/strong>We are happy to be able to fund up to two representatives from each active local health coalition. All subsidies must be pre-approved by Natalie Mehra, executive director<\/u>. To be approved for a subsidy, you must be a designated representative from your local coalition, your local coalition must be active, and you must<\/u> fill out a subsidy request form & email it to Natalie Mehra at natalie@ontariohc.ca<\/span><\/a>. Subsidy request forms have been sent to local coalition co-chairs or you can contact Natalie to receive one.<\/p>\n
