Friday September 18 Check in: 3 p.m. <\/strong>to Sunday September 20 (lunch included)<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A special weekend to learn, make connections, be inspired and have fun. The location is extraordinary: the beautiful town of Port Elgin on the shore of Lake Huron. It is an exciting opportunity for Health Coalition members and supporters to come together and deepen our knowledge and effectiveness in all our work with the Coalition & in other organizations and movements.<\/p>\n

Transportation assistance<\/strong>: We can make arrangements as needed. Those coming from Eastern Ontario- meet in Oshawa at the VIA Station & we will drive up. From SW Ont. & Toronto- meet at the Yorkdale subway\/Go station & we will drive up. From the North- meet in Sudbury to drive down.<\/p>\n

Courses<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Friday night there will be an opening plenary & classes will start.
\nClasses will run Saturday & end Sunday morning before a closing plenary. There are evening fun activities including your choice of a movie, pub, on Saturday a campfire, the beach and more. (Bring a bathing suit if you want to swim!)
\nCheck out is at 11 a.m. (Lunch is provided – eat at the centre or take a brown bag lunch to go.)<\/p>\n

  1. The Complete Privatization Primer: <\/strong>Everything you need to know about privatization in health care & other public services: what it is, who is pushing it, and recent evidence from Canada & abroad.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. The Growing Gap, Public Services & Equality: <\/strong>Canada\u2019s income & wealth gap has stretched to record-breaking levels. How bad is it? What caused it & who benefits? What do public services have to do with it? A fun, interesting primer on public services, cuts, labourforce restructuring & privatization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. A Primer on How to Use Social Media & Grow Your Reach: <\/strong>Want to understand the basics of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, X, BlueSky? We cover these plus how to make a graphic, how to get your posts to go further & how to deal with trolls.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. How to Move Your Audience: Public Speaking Workshop: <\/strong>This course will help with anxiety around public speaking and help you to make an emotional connection with your audience. Participants will hear really effective speeches, understand why they are so impactful, and build their confidence through practice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          1. Media Training: <\/strong>A primer on how to get media to your events, how to speak to the media — with lots of practice to deal with nerves, how to answer questions and debate the issues effectively.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Accommodation packages:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

            There are 2 accommodation packages available. All packages include room, board, classes, and meals and use of the facility including gym, pub, beach access, gardens and a campfire on Saturday night.<\/p>\n
