Local federal election candidates will share their thoughts and ideas about the delivery of health-care services during three debates scheduled for later this week.<\/p>\n
The Ontario Health Coalition has organized a series of political debates in communities across the province, focusing on health-care issues in the various ridings.<\/p>\n
While health care falls under provincial jurisdiction, Sue Hotte from the health coalition said the federal government still has a big role to play in health care, such as transfer payments provided to the provinces that help pay for the delivery of health-care services.<\/p>\n
In Niagara, the provincial organization has teamed up with the Retired Teachers of Ontario District 14 to run a debate for Niagara Falls riding candidates Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Gale Centre Arena, 4171 4th Ave. in Niagara Falls; as well as debates for St. Catharines and Niagara Centre candidates held concurrently at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n
The St. Catharines debate takes place at the St. Catharines downtown library in the Mills Room, 54 Church St., and the Welland debate will be held at the Welland Arena community room, at 501 King St.<\/p>\n
