{"id":8602,"date":"2019-11-05T16:17:38","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T21:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ontariohealthcoalition.ca\/?p=8602"},"modified":"2019-11-05T16:18:52","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T21:18:52","slug":"health-coalition-preparing-for-massive-rally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ontariohealthcoalition.ca\/index.php\/health-coalition-preparing-for-massive-rally\/","title":{"rendered":"HEALTH COALITION PREPARING FOR MASSIVE RALLY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(November 1, 2019)<\/p>\n<p>By: Sydenham Current<\/p>\n<p>With the aim of calling on the provincial government to stop the cuts and eliminating local health care services, the Chatham-Kent and Ontario Health Coalitions are holding a rally on Saturday, November 2.<span id=\"more-146526\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Organizers say hundreds of local Chatham-Kent residents will be joined by approximately 150 people from across Southwestern Ontario at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre from 11 a.m. until approximately 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Shirley Roebuck, one of the local organizers, told the Sydenham Current she is hoping for a great turnout.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say the \u201cfamily friendly\u201d event will be an indoor \u2018rally\u2019 style event with noisemakers, speeches, visual presentations, music, hotdogs, hot chocolate, snacks, coffee and tea.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers say the Coalition is hoping to \u201cbuild enough political pressure on the Doug Ford government\u201d to:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2013 Stop plans to eliminate 25 of 35 local Public Health Units<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2013 Eliminate 49 of 59 local ambulance\/paramedic services and 12 of 22 local dispatch units and merge them down to 10.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2013 To stop plans to cut public health and long-term care funding and the offloading of costs to municipalities<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2013 And to stop real-dollar cuts to hospitals and long-term care homes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Organizers added the Coalition is also working to protect home care and health care services from privatization.<\/p>\n<p>The event is organized by the Chatham-Kent Health Coalition and the Ontario Health Coalition with a local organizing committee including dozens of local organizations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sydenhamcurrent.ca\/2019\/11\/01\/health-coalition-preparing-for-massive-rally\/\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Read Full Article Here<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(November 1, 2019) By: Sydenham Current With the aim of calling on the provincial government to stop the cuts and eliminating local health care services, the Chatham-Kent and Ontario Health Coalitions are holding a rally on Saturday, November 2.
