Job Posting: Campaign Coordinator

The Ontario Health Coalition is an activist coalition representing more than 400 member organizations across Ontario to safeguard and improve public health care for all under the principles of compassion and equity that underlie the Canada Health Act. We are an extremely active and dynamic coalition, working collaboratively with hundreds of groups and thousands of individuals across Ontario and Canada. We work to protect and improve local health care services, stop privatization and foster democratic debate and discussion about health care policy that impacts the lives of Ontarians.

We are looking for a Campaign Coordinator to organize province-wide campaigns on the key issues we have identified. These include campaigns to protect and improve local public hospital services, safeguard the principle of equal health care for all Canadians based on need not income, improve care standards in long-term care, improve public and non-profit home care, and foster democratic discussion regarding health care reform and restructuring proposals, among others.

Terms:

This is a contract position to December 31, 2017 with the possibility of renewal.

Salary: $ 37,000 plus $1,500 in lieu of benefits per year for an annual total of $38,500, pro-rated.

Hours: 35 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work are required.

Job Requirements:

The Campaign Coordinator will work in a fast-paced, shared office with a diverse group of volunteers. The work is varied and requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, familiarity with non-profit groups, social justice organizations, unions and other NGOs; experience in organizing events and/or campaigns; familiarity with current public policy issues; excellent organizational skills, and; critical analysis and research skills.

A post-secondary degree (B.A. or B.A.H.) is required. A minimum of 2 years work experience is required.

Computer skills are required including: proficiency in word processing and the Microsoft Office Suite and use of social media tools, email and internet. Knowledge of database software (Access) and website maintenance using WordPress are an asset.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice/equity issues.

Duties Include:

· Coordinating public meetings.

· Planning conferences and special events.

· Working with committees to plan strategy.

· Organizing rallies and protests.

· Organizing and attending meetings with MPPs and policy makers.

· Producing newsletters, brochures, posters and other promotional materials.

· Organizing media conferences.

· Facilitating meetings.

· Assisting with research.

· Supervising office volunteers.

· Maintaining communication with local health coalitions.

· Maintaining records, notes, minutes of meetings and contact lists.

· Working as a team in a varied, busy environment with volunteers of varying capacities.

· Assisting with the office work that supports our campaigns.
