Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) health care workers from Peterborough are heading to Queen’s Park on Thursday for an event in remembrance of long-term-care residents killed as a result of violence by another resident.
Organized by the Ontario Health Coalition, the event starts at 10:30 a.m. and includes a memorial procession and memorial ceremony remembering the 29 lives lost since 2001.
Memorial participants are bringing pink carnations to the event as a symbol of hope that the province will legislate a four-hour daily care standard to improve safety in long-term homes.
