While Ontario Premier Doug Ford hosted his counterparts from across Canada from July 22-23, in Huntsville, to discuss tariff pronouncements from U.S. President Donald Trump, health-care advocates from across the country were adamant that health care must not be relegated to the back burner by economic concerns.
Health care advocates from across the country stated in a press release that Canada is experiencing a massive health care crisis from coast to coast, and threats from a former ally cannot take precedence over health care.
The Ontario Health Coalition has joined with the Canadian Health Coalition and other provincial health coalitions. They stated in a press release that they plan to be in Huntsville to provide a reminder that while there are economic challenges that need to be addressed, “it is important to recognize the value of our universal and comprehensive public health-care system.”
The Grey Bruce Health Coalition has been part of the planning committee for the “shadow summit” that’s taking place just down the road from the gathering of the First Ministers and the Council of the Federation.
Grey-Bruce will be represented at the event. One of the speakers at the rally that’s been planned is local Health Coalition chair Brenda Scott.
In a joint press release, the health coalitions stated that they want our provincial and federal leaders to remember that “public health care is a core foundation of any just economy.”
