Rallies are being held across the province today as the Ontario Health Coalition calls for on the government to address staffing issues in long term care homes.

The group demands the Ford government recruit and train more staff and provide a minimum daily standard of four hours of hands-on care for every resident.

Last week, the province announced more than half a billion dollars to help long term care hire workers, purchase equipment and prevent infections, but the OHC says that’s still not enough.

A news conference is being held outside Queens Park at 9:30 this morning.

The local chapter of the Health Coalition will be protesting outside the Chatham office of MPP Rick Nicholls at 11 o’clock this morning.
