The Chatham-Kent Health Coalition is celebrating the opening of its new volunteer office in downtown Chatham as a part of a campaign to save local health care services.
Chair Shirley Roebuck says they are preparing for a fight against the province to stop proposed cuts to public health units and ambulance services across Ontario.
“I want to tell you that we can win this campaign, we can win this fight, all we have to do is come out en masse and tell our elected officials that we do not support any regionalization, centralization, downsizing, or closure of any public health service,” Roebuck says. “That includes public health units, paramedic services, long term care, and hospitals.”
A massive rally is planned for November 2nd at the Bradley Convention Centre, with similar protests scheduled across the province as well.
The CK Health Coalition’s new office is located at 137 King Street West in downtown Chatham, and will be used to recruit new volunteers and hand out information to local residents.
