The Nipissing NDP Riding Association is hosting its second virtual “Economic Recovery Readiness Panel” today (Wednesday) with a focus on Health and Healthcare in post-COVID19 economic recovery. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Panelists include:

  • France Gélinas, MPP Nickel Belt and Official Opposition Critic for Health,
  • Michael Hurley, President, Ontario Council of Hospital Unions
  • Natalie Mehra, Executive Director, Ontario Health Coalition

According to Riding Association Executive Member and Event Facilitator, Erika Lougheed, “COVID-19 exposed just how fragile our current social and economic structures are. When we look at it from the perspective of health, we see what happens when we erode public health and allow profits to enter into our health and long-care systems.

“We need to rebuild in a way that fosters more meaningful participation in the economy for everyone – not just those with the means to benefit from a system that favours wealth and status.”

The Nipissing NDP Riding Association is also planning future panels with topics related to food and agriculture and education.
