Social distancing isn’t stopping the Ontario Health Coalition from holding a ‘Day of Action’ Friday focused on long-term care homes.

They’ve organized a virtual rally on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

They’re calling on the province to do more to stop the virus from spreading in the homes, where most of the province’s COVID-19-related deaths are happening, and also stabilize the sector.

To participate in the rally, they want you to post a picture with a sign calling on the province to undertake concrete measures to fix the long-term care system. You can also use the hashtag #FixLTCFord.

The Facebook event can be found here.

The coalition says they recognize the province has taken measures and made improvements in the facilities, but they think more concrete steps need to be taken.

They’re calling on the province to improve access to personal protective equipment, permanently improve wages and working conditions in the homes, require a four-hour minimum care standard, better infection control and no more for-profit long-term care.
